a) Record two sounds
using a simple recording device—a cassette recorder will work. One sound should
be of speech, and one should be music.

from the recorder to a computer’s audio input. Using a sound capture and
editing tool, capture both clips in 44 kHz, 16-bit stereo (if you can’t record
in stereo, ignore the applicable directions).
